A unique Community Mental Health initiative, started in March 1990, on the outskirts of Mumbai, in the city of Thane known for its old mental asylum, symbolic of an age when mentally disturbed people were segregated from the social main stream. This initiative of making the community aware of its 'Mental health needs', providing plans & solutions and involving community members in projects and activities is novel and path breaking. It is a place offering a wide range of services and activities for all age groups. A place where a team of dedicated professionals and community volunteers work hand in hand and new members from community get valuable education and training.

Meet IPH - the Indian Social Enterprise* in the field of mental health: We help people discover their songs and we help them to play the tune of optimism. IPH: A unique medico-social agency working to realize the dream of "Mental Health for All".

Though we are a registered NGO with clearly defined and socially relevant vision and mission, this has not been sufficient at IPH. Our goal of being financially sustained entity using our core competence of working in the Mental Health field has meant that we are now more than an NGO but a social enterprise. What do we mean by this? Rather than just depend on donations (which we would welcome), we are active in earning the money to fund our activities.

We have a distinctive financial model entirely rooted in our philosophy and our core competence.

(*Social enterprises are businesses set up to tackle a social or environmental need. Many commercial businesses would consider themselves to have social objectives, but social enterprises are distinctive because their social and/or environmental purpose is absolutely central to what they do - their profits are reinvested to sustain and further their mission for positive change.)

How do we do this?
Part of the fee from all the listed activities below gets used for further development of IPH and also to sustain the current activities of IPH.
