Nourishment to Mind - N Group
N group: The word 'stress' is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as "a state of affair involving demand on physical or mental energy". A condition or circumstance (not always adverse), which can disturb the normal physical and mental health of an individual. In medical parlance 'stress' is defined as a perturbation of the body's homeostasis. This demand on mind-body occurs when it tries to cope with incessant changes in life. A 'stress' condition seems 'relative' in nature. Extreme stress conditions, psychologists say, are detrimental to human health but in moderation stress is normal and, in many cases, proves useful. Stress, nonetheless, is synonymous with negative conditions. Today, with the rapid diversification of human activity, we come face to face with numerous causes of stress and the symptoms of stress and depression.

Emotional, intellectual, sensory, fine and gross motor skill development, physical, and social development is some of the major areas of assessment, with creativity as a basis of all activities.

Workshop on

Career Guidance Program in the Area of Mental Health

Dear Fresh Psychology/ Social Work/ Human Development graduates / PG Students

More often than not, after that exhilarating feeling of having cleared your graduate examinations has passed, students are generally at crossroads as to “what next??

Even then, many a time, even after choosing the subject for postgraduate studies, students do not have a very clear idea of the implications and applications of what they have chosen to do.

This query may even linger even after a student has completed his/her first year of PG studies!

IPH is an NGO base in Thane with its thrust on community mental health, and Aakalan is the learning centre for IPH.  Our experience has been that we are flooded with a number of queries from students who ask for a direction in a career in mental health.

Through Aakalan, an attempt is being  made by IPH to give these students a holistic view of the mental health scenario in India and define for them the role of the psychologist/social worker  in the mental health team.

Aakalan plans to hold a 1 day workshop on ‘Frontiers in Mental Health’ – a course for fresh psychology/ social work/ human development graduates and PG students.

Various experts in different areas in Psychology/Social work/Human Development will give inputs and share their experiences. Sessions will be informative and interactive. Students will get an opportunity to clear their doubts and voice their concerns.
