Institute for Psychological Health (IPH) is a social enterprise which has been working since 1990 towards providing better mental health care, through the provision of services, reducing stigma about mental health, and by increasing community participation. IPH covers three 'Ds' i.e. Disorder, Distress and Development.

Nine years back under the umbrella of Development - i.e. the 3rd D IPH started Mission Excellence a mental training program for Sports persons. Mission Excellence is a Sports Psychology program which aims at helping athletes to achieve their peak performance. It's about improving attitude and mental game skills to help athlete perform his/her best by identifying limiting beliefs and embracing a healthier philosophy about the sport. IPH is working with different sports disciplines like Table Tennis, Badminton, Athletics, Swimming, Chess, Gymnastics and Cricket with more than 100 players out of which 50 are on National Level and 20 on International level.

Objective of Mission Excellence:

  • To help athletes improve focus and deal with distractions
  • To grow confidence in athletes who have doubts
  • To develop coping skills in athletes to deal with setbacks and errors
  • To find the right zone of intensity for the athlete
  • To help teams develop communication skills and cohesion
  • To instill a healthy belief system and identify irrational thoughts
  • To improve or balance motivation for optimal performance
  • To develop confidence in an athlete post injury
  • To develop game specific strategies and game plans
  • To help the athlete to identify and enter the zone more often


About Mission EXcellence
We work with
  • Players:
    • Introductory module: This program is for the district level players ar the players who have just started plaing competitive sport. The objective of this program is to introduce them to sports psychology. This would be done through group sessions.
    • Selected Players: Players with potentials and who are playing at the state level. The objective of this program is to develop focus and disciplined efforts. This would be done through regular individual sessions and four camps in a year.
    • Frontline Players: Players who have played at the International or National levels. Individual sessions and two camps in a year would be conducted for these players.
  • Parents:
    • Inputs to parents: General palak shalla
    • Selected parents: Palak shalla for talented players' parents
  • Coaches:
    • Communication skills
    • Basic counseling skills: Crises management and developmental Counselling
    • Mentoring Skills
