Palakshala

This is one of our popular workshops for parents, ongoing since 1993. Changing global scenario and information deluge along with the changes in the family structure has meant that parents are now confused about how to raise their children. What worked as parenting techniques with older generation does not seem useful today and the support of the extended families too is not readily available. Increasingly with both parents working, there appears to be newer challenges to face with raising children. Hence this outreach program to help parents sort out their own confusions.

Usually each group consists of just 10 to 15 parents as participants for increased interaction. Palakshala includes ten sessions on Parental Enrichment such as:- Discipline, Family influence, Creativity, Values, Career guidance, Socialization, Sexuality education, Diet & nutrition, etc. These workshop participants are given admission on the basis of their child's age group, as the issues concerning parents of 0 to 10 age groups could be different from parents of adolescent age level children. The effectiveness of this workshop can be judged from the fact that IPH is requested to conduct this program in various far flung areas of Maharashtra state throughout the year, which are called as satellite Palashala.
